Institute of Ecosystem Studies: Mary Flagler Cary Arboretum

1,924 acres, public ecology programs, nature trails and plant collections, including tropical greenhouse. Visitor permits required, free at the Gifford House Visitor and Education Center.

It is open to the public from 8:00am to 5:00pm every day of the year. Admission is $3.00 for children and $4.00 for adults. All groups other than families are by appointment only. Dutchess Wine Trail
More and more people are discovering how much fun it is to spend the day on the Dutchess Wine Trail. The trail links Millbrook Vineyards & Winery with Clinton Vineyards, Cascade Mountain Winery and Alison Vineyards. The wine trail makes it easy to spend a day enjoying the picturesque countryside, picnicking or dining, and of course, touring the wineries and sampling the fabulous wines. Alison Wines & Vineyards
The Hudson Valley’s newest producer of fine red and white wines created from the noble French varieties. Winemaker Richard Lewit handcrafts his wines to reflect the special climate and growing conditions found in New York. All wine making and barrel aging takes place in a converted dairy barn, parts of which date to the mid 1800’s. Cascade Mountain Winery & Restaurant

Described as a star rising in the east not solely for its wines, but for its restaurant as well. New York Times food and wine writers M.H. Reed and Geoff Kalish, M.D., gave the winery's restaurant a 96, one of the top ratings in the Hudson Valley.The Winery is open year 'round, the Restaurant is open daily April through December, and year 'round on weekends.
